NCM plays each Stockfish dev build 20,000 times against Stockfish 14. This yields an approximate Elo difference and establishes confidence in the strength of the dev builds.

Clarify stats range
Current update formula ensures that the
possible value range is [-32 * D, 32 * D].
So we never overflow if abs(32 * D) < INT16_MAX
