NCM plays each Stockfish dev build 20,000 times against Stockfish 15. This yields an approximate Elo difference and establishes confidence in the strength of the dev builds.

Retire set_timer()
Also assure in Thread::timer_loop() that when
timer interval is 0 (timer is disabled) we
never call check_time()
No functional change.
