NCM plays each Stockfish dev build 20,000 times against Stockfish 15. This yields an approximate Elo difference and establishes confidence in the strength of the dev builds.

use expanded variables for shell commands
Performance improvement for the shell commands in the Makefile.
By using expanded variables, the shell commands are only
evaluated once, instead of every time they are used.
